Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) forms the other half of the early action metric, and in doing so it provides the opportunity for organisations to receive half of the available bonus payment during the first year. In order to qualify, the automatic meter reading equipment must cover both electricity and gas.

All qualifying AMR will need to be installed by 31 March 2011. In addition to the CRC league table benefits of AMR, organisations should gain from an increased awareness of energy consumption to help implement better energy management.

A participants score in the AMR element of the Early Action Metric is based on the volume of electricity and gas supplied during the first annual reporting year through meters that count as voluntarily installed AMR and were installed before the 31st March 2011. The earlier you voluntarily install metering arrangements that count as AMR, the better your organisation will score in the AMR element of the Early Action Metric.
